A Weekend of Focused Strategy, Instruction & Review
WHEN: September 14th – 15th, 2013
WHERE: San Francisco, California, USA
If you feel like your blog has stalled in it’s growth, or you are struggling to find a path towards success that works for you, you will want to join us in Northern California for this weekend long workshop. This workshop will be tailored towards breaking through your blogging plateau, with an emphasis on voice, story, writing, photography, design, messaging and branding. Participants will get a chance to provide information before the weekend begins that will help us use the two days most effectively, so have an idea of where you would like to be as a blogger, and be prepared to learn and leave the weekend with a solid plan on how to grow your blog the right way.
BlogBrilliantly.com was born out of a desire to talk to creative people about how to blog in the best way possible – with a focus on creating great content rather than spending time chasing tweets and influence. We recognize that blogging can be an isolating, lonely pursuit, one where getting meaningful feedback from multiple sources is crucial to fostering real growth. Since beginning Blog Brilliantly, we have prided ourselves on creating a safe space for our community where we challenge each other to go further.
While we love our online course and interactions in the community, a lot of people have asked us over the years about one-on-one mentorship. In fact, we’ve found meeting other bloggers, especially in small groups, to be really energizing and quick way to learn. While we have written dozens of articles on how to approach different aspects of blogging, there is really nothing like having knowledgable people right there. We find that after each workshop that we’re more energized and motivated in our blogging with tons of new ideas. We’re bloggers, we love the web, but that group dynamic can be really inspiring.
To that end, we’re offering very small workshops throughout the year. They’ll be hosted in various places around the world, where we’ll be working together with a large screen for demonstrations, plenty of wifi and coffee.
Who is it for?
The short answer: Creative people who want to get focused and create an organized, smart plan for growth, or people who want to create content at a higher quality level. We take new bloggers, but we suggest that you have your blog live and setup before you come.
Our expertise is in story driven narratives: using writing, photography and video to share your work, the story of you, with the world. Our approach isn’t dependent on pure talent; we set goals, looking realistically on where we want to be in one year, two years, then make a plan of what steps are needed to reach those goals. We’re smart about business but focused on the creative. We use social media, but we don’t let it run our lives. We network, we monetize, we use internet marketing techniques, but only to support our core mission.
What do you get?
Two full days of intensive hands-on workshop time.
Sessions will run 8 hours per day, from 9AM to 5PM, with a break for lunch. In addition to material and discussion from Christine, the group will workshop their ideas together. By workshopping as a group, we hope to help you to think more critically about your approach, and hopefully learn some things you might not have thought of if you were on your own.
What will the workshop cover?
We recognize that a blog can be very different things depending on the person and their goals, so our approach is extremely fluid. We don’t believe there is a cookie cutter one-size-fits-all approach to meeting your goals, so we take the time to tailor our approach to meet your individual needs. Because this particular workshop is shorter than others we have done, we would like to focus this one more on pointing you in the right direction to push your blog further than the level you are right now.
When you enroll, you will be sent a questionnaire that will prep you for what you will need to bring with you to the course, and let us know where you currently are in your blogging career and where you would like go in the future. Setting goals is vital to your growth – without them, you won’t know if you are headed in the right direction!

Leaving her corporate management job in the dust in early 2008, Christine and her husband set off for Madrid, Spain only knowing that what she wanted to pursue was traveling the world, Through the dedicated readership Christine built on AlmostFearless.com, she was able to finance the beginning and end of her documentary, The Wireless Generation, which will be coming out this year. She is also currently writing a book for Gotham (an imprint of Penguin) detailing her journey through learning to speak Arabic, Mandarin and Spanish fluently in a year and a half.
She built her reputation by working hard to deliver quality work first, trusting that people will find and stay with you if you can consistently deliver the goods. Avoiding spending endless hours in pursuit of getting traffic to her site, she has instead focused on incrementally improving her craft as a writer and photographer, and along the way discovered the benefits of building an engaged readership over just pure numbers.
